Exploring the World with Christian in 2023
Last year, our Travel Director Christian embarked on many unforgettable trips around the world filled with enchanting destinations, culinary delights, and awe-inspiring experiences. From the sun-kissed shores of Sicily to the golden sands of Morocco, each place left a lasting impression.
Sicily: A Gastronomic Haven
Sicily, with its rich history, culture, and cuisine immediately made Christian fall in love with the Italian city. The island’s culinary scene, in particular, had mouthwatering dishes (that he even got to create himself on the trip!) and world-class wines (obviously, it’s Italy!) that hit every single checkmark that any food and travel lover would ever want.
The island’s vineyards were nestled among the rolling hills and ancient ruins and offered everyone passing a glimpse into centuries-old winemaking traditions.
One of the best parts of the trip was driving Land Rovers up the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest active volcano. As they neared the top, the landscape transformed and revealed a rugged terrain and an out-of-this-world, lunar-like landscape, where they indulged in wine tasting. A truly magical experience you can’t get anywhere else.
Morocco: A Desert Oasis
The absolute highlight of the trip to Morocco for Christian was the journey to the Sahara Desert. Riding camels into the never-ending golden sands with the dunes stretched outward felt like stepping into a fairytale.
Not only was the trip with the camels magical but heading to the coast of Punta Mita and seeing a majestic humpback whale and her baby was pure magic.
Italy: A Return to Paradise
Yes, another Italy highlight but one that Christian won’t stop talking about. Back in Italy, he yachted to Capri with clients and ate his weight in pasta—but honestly, who wouldn’t?
The azure waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the rugged coastline dotted with colorful villages, and the warm embrace of Italian hospitality created the perfect backdrop for unforgettable memories.
Hotel Recommendation
As someone who traveled extensively last year, Christian’s top hotel that he recommends is Castel Monastero.. Nestled in the picturesque Tuscan countryside, this 15th-century village turned 5-star hotel exuded timeless elegance and charm. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility, surrounded by rolling vineyards and olive groves.
The meticulously restored rooms, adorned with antique furnishings and modern amenities, provided the perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. Whether indulging in a rejuvenating spa treatment or savoring gourmet cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients, every moment spent at Castel Monastero felt like a dream come true.
