The best time to visit Hungary would be April to early September. You can expect lots of sunshine, as well as plenty of warm days.
Suggested Itineraries:
Budapest is full of intricate and old world things to see and do. There are many thermal baths, museums, and markets to check out!
Like most of Europe, Budapest is full of stunningly beautiful churches that are hundreds of years old. Not only do you get to peek into the religious history, but also the art history as well. The Matthias Church is definalty one to look into. The stained glass is breathtaking and fills the rooms with such rich color. But the roof is the real star there as it is covered in ceramic tiles from the Zsolnay factory.
As far as thermal baths go, Széchnyi Bath & Spa is a good start. It’s one of the largest spas in all of Europe. While Széchnyi is the largest, Gellért Spa & Bath is the most beautiful. Decked out in Art Nouveau style, you’ll feel like you’re back in time.
The Great Market Hall is a great place to find gifts to bring home to friends! You’ll be able to find anything you need in the largest market in Budapest.
The Hungarian National Museum is also an interesting spot to visit. With loads of unique and historic collections, it’s defiantly worth a visit for any history buff.
Extensions:
Prague is very close to Budapest, and is easily reached by train. Letná Park is beautiful all year round, with awesome views of Prague Old Town. A favorite spot for expats is The Globe Bookstore & Café. Floor to ceiling bookshelves cover the walls in Prague’s first English speaking bookstore. A visit to Prague’s Astronomical Clock is a must. The world’s oldest working astronomical clock, this clock is a treasure to Prague. Be sure to keep an eye on the figures that surround the clock at the top of the hour! A weekend in Prague would be incomplete without seeing the Infant Jesus of Prague statue in The Church of Our Lady Victorious. A focal point of the shrine there, this hundreds year old statue holds tremendous weight for the people in Prague as many people continue to flock to it.
